The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service that’s dedicated to the nuclear industry. As Senior Financial Accountant, you’ll join us in a role where you can provide a high-quality service to the CNC. 

Working as part of the Finance team, we are looking for a Senior Financial Account to provide high-quality technical Accounts and financial information. You’ll support and lead the delivery of all financial aspects of our Annual Report and Accounts process to ensure accurate, effective, and timely delivery whilst leading on all monthly control activities. You will ensure that revenue expenditure is accurately recorded in the Financial Ledger, ensuring a robust reconciliation process. Development and growth are a key part of what makes our Finance team special – you will lead on the support, training, and mentoring of our Finance Apprentice, supporting them through their studies.

Looking to the Central Government Financial Regime, IFRS and UK GAAP, you’ll review to understand, interpret, and analyse the impacts for us and ensure that we comply with HM Treasury Guidance. You’ll need to have a good knowledge of Managing Public Money, to support capital and reporting capital income and expenditure processes. You’ll also hold responsibility for completing returns to the Inland Revenue, so a solid understanding of taxation regulations is key.

We’re looking for someone to join us who is Fully, or Part Qualified and actively studying towards a professional qualification, with a recognised Accountancy body (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with experience in an accountancy environment, ideally with some public sector experience. You’ll be confident with matters relating to all technical finance accounts, including working experience within a Financial Accounts/Technical Finance team. It would be advantageous if you had knowledge of the Central Government Financial Regime (FReM, Managing Public Money etc.) and international reporting standards. You will need to be able to interpret and analyse highly complex financial and statistical data and reporting. Commercially sharp and good with people, you’ll be comfortable presenting and communicating, both internally and externally.
