This pivotal, commercial role is responsible for the NATS Future Military Area Radar Services (FMARS) commercial relationship with the Ministry of Defence (MOD), providing both exceptional service to the MOD and profitability and commercial success of the NATS MOD service line. Managing the delivery of this MOD/FMARS contract you’ll ensure NATS deliverables and activities meet contractual obligations & operational needs, deliver expected margins and maintain the strategic relationship with the MOD customers (and NATS internal suppliers).
It’s vital that these relationships are maintained & strengthened from both an operational & commercial viewpoint, so you’ll review the overall service line forecast & budget, identifying inconsistencies & inefficiencies and defining & implementing corrective action to ensure the effective & efficient management of MOD business area & service line.
Key accountabilities:
- Responsible for FMARS Business Area, managing the NATS Operations MOD Business objectives (reporting performance, forecasting resource requirements, activity & financial management, managing business & commercial risk, business policy).
- Develop, define & implement initiatives that support the growth of NERL & NATS Operations MOD Business in support of our strategic objectives and priorities.
- Act as NATS Operations MOD Regulated Service Line manager, including representing the MOD Regulated Service Line on appropriate governance bodies.
- Manage the NERL Defence Team, ensuring correct ATC & technical solutions are delivered.
Skills & experience:
- Educated to degree-level or equivalent, or a post graduate Business/Commercial qualification preferred.
- Significant experience in commercial functions, can understand & balance short-term & long-term commercial issues.
- Experience of managing contracted service level and/or operational capability commitments.
- Knowledge of delivering customer requirements, experience of transitioning new systems into service.
- Understanding the MOD customer’s operational needs, financial & commercial position and can negotiate with NATS to ensure the MOD receive effective solutions.
- Understanding of NATS systems used by MOD or Military ATC experience (ideal).
- Able to resolve complex issues considering commercial factors, resource constraints & programme milestones.
- Can motivate teams in matrix structures to maintain quality and deliver against tight timescales.
- Inclusive, collaborative style, comfortable in a matrix management environment.
- Effective stakeholder communication, able to present complex arguments, with exceptional negotiation & influencing skills.
