External Communications / Public Relations Specialist

Role Purpose:

In your new role you’ll play a key part in shaping the development and delivery of NATS’ External Communications strategy, in support of our vision, strategy and priorities.

You’ll be supporting the PR & Communications Senior Manager and Head of Corporate & Community Affairs and working with stakeholders across the business, to develop and deliver tailored external communications and engagement strategies, campaigns, plans and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to business issues, developing appropriate solutions and responses and providing in-house consultancy, helping inform and influence stakeholders, to enhance their communication capabilities.

  • Produce high quality, compelling content to support plans, including video, graphics, audio, and written material.

  • Ensure the effective, ongoing development and deployment of a suite of multi-channel communication content to engage and inspire external stakeholders.

  • Help raise the priority of communications, ensuring that messaging and activities are aligned, and opportunities shared.

  • Lead and communicate cross-discipline campaigns on behalf of the Communications team.

  • Act as a core member of the 24/7 Duty Press Office roster and Crisis Response team.

Skills & Experience:

You’ll have significant external PR and Communications experience within a high-profile organisation(s). Previous agency or in-house experience will be considered.

Other requirements include:

  • Proactive team player with exceptional communication, writing and editorial skills.

  • Good grasp of political and economic issues and a strong sense of what makes news, with creative flair.

  • Confident networking skills, understanding how to establish Media and Aviation contacts and use them effectively.

  • Self-starter with energy and strong organisational skills to develop and manage multiple projects, stakeholders and changing agendas.

  • A mix of honed diplomacy and business acumen reaching beyond communications.

  • Personable with superb influencing skills and the ability to overcome resistance.

  • Ability to work at both a strategic and tactical level with a strong attention to detail and an appetite to raise the bar.

  • Previous coaching experience will be an advantage.
