Senior Manager / Head of Internal Audit

Job Purpose:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Internal Audit professional to join our collaborative Business Assurance, Risk and Resilience function and really make an impact.

Here at NATS we are transforming the way we delivery Internal Audit and are transitioning to an in-house model, so we are looking to enhance our internal capability and need someone to join us and lead this high-profile transformation project.

This is a brand-new position where you’ll play a pivotal role in evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of our internal control environment and compliance with regulatory requirements. You’ll also lead a high-performing team, coaching and developing 2nd line assurance providers across the organisation to ensure that key risks are mitigated.

As this is a new position, we would like to be more candidate-led through our recruitment process, so we are open to your experience level, ranging from ‘Manager’ to ‘Head of’ level. We can then shape the scope of the role and give you a level of responsibility commensurate with your skills and experience.

This role is based at our Whiteley campus, near Fareham, Hampshire. We offer a flexible, hybrid working model, including part-time options for this position.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

You will have significant experience in Internal Audit, including in a leadership role(s), and you’ll ideally have run an Internal Audit transformation project(s) previously. You’ll also be self-sufficient, driven and have a real appetite for progressing your career to the next level and beyond.

Other key requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; relevant professional qualification preferred (e.g., CIA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • In-depth understanding of internal controls and audit methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders including Executive level.
  • Thrives working in a highly collaborative team environment and able to influence, challenge the status quo and make an impact with energy, passion and drive.
  • Proven coaching, leadership and people management skills.
  • Strategic mindset and sound project management skills.
