The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is seeking a Technical Training Advisor. ‘Technical Training’ is part of the ‘Training & Technical Performance ‘ team, which falls under of the Directorate of UK Technical Maritime Services (UKTMS), facilitating and supporting the requirements for technical training across UKTMS, including surveyor technical training.

 

As a Technical Training Advisor, you will support the efficient administration of surveyor and technical training, ensuring delivery aligns with MCA and international standards. Reporting to the Technical Training Lead, you will help procure, manage and evaluate training products and schedules, and support training needs analysis. You will also support the work of the Surveyor Training Group (STG) in delivering appropriate training policies and standards set by the STG.

 

Top Responsibilities

  • Managing the administration of technical training schemes and maintaining training record for surveyors and technical staff from entry to specialisation.
  • Assisting with the scheduling and coordination of internal and external training, including pre-course work and practical delivery.
  • Assisting with the analysis, design, procurement, and evaluation of training solutions.
  • Contributing to the management of technical training budget in liaison with the Technical Training Lead and assist with the requestion of goods and services.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships across UK Maritime Services and representing technical training at relevant forums and meetings.
  • Assisting with cross-government stakeholder engagement, including liaison with HR and Learning and Capability to support development opportunities.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

  • Experience in providing good customer.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with stakeholders both externally and internally at all levels.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Proven demonstrable aptitude for written work and competency in numeracy and literacy.
  • Experience, confidence and aptitude in the use of Microsoft 365 suite of applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint.
