Join the Department for Transport’s Low Carbon Fuels Directorate, where you’ll help accelerate the shift to greener transport and play a vital role in tackling climate change. Working in a high-performing, supportive team, you’ll build expertise in green transport policy, low carbon fuels and emerging energy systems. The vacancies will be spread across two divisions:
- LCF Strategy
- Sustainable Aviation Fuel Revenue Certainty Mechanism
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing the UK’s strategic approach to Low Carbon Fuels in transport by assessing policy options, drafting key documents, compiling evidence, scoping research projects, and planning stakeholder engagement and workshops.
- Monitoring and developing policy and contributions relating to low carbon policy across Government, supporting the team’s wider work.
- Leveraging technical expertise to inform the design of Revenue Certainty Mechanism policy.
- Managing own workstreams with autonomy, identifying issues and proposing innovative solutions. Taking a key role in project management across all workstreams in the team.

About you
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Transport decarbonisation, STEM, climate change policy or sustainability. This could be from work, study, or taking a personal interest in these topics.
- Engaging and managing stakeholders, including communicating complex information to different audiences.
- Making decisions or recommendations based on the best available evidence, even when the evidence is complex, incomplete or contradictory.
