Join the Department for Transport’s Low Carbon Fuels Directorate, where you’ll help accelerate the shift to greener transport and play a vital role in tackling climate change. Working in a high-performing, supportive team, you’ll build expertise in green transport policy, low carbon fuels and emerging energy systems. The vacancies will be spread across two divisions:

  • LCF Strategy
  • Sustainable Aviation Fuel Revenue Certainty Mechanism

 

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing the UK’s strategic approach to Low Carbon Fuels in transport by assessing policy options, drafting key documents, compiling evidence, scoping research projects, and planning stakeholder engagement and workshops.
  • Monitoring and developing policy and contributions relating to low carbon policy across Government, supporting the team’s wider work.
  • Leveraging technical expertise to inform the design of Revenue Certainty Mechanism policy.
  • Managing own workstreams with autonomy, identifying issues and proposing innovative solutions. Taking a key role in project management across all workstreams in the team.

About you

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

  1. Transport decarbonisation, STEM, climate change policy or sustainability. This could be from work, study, or taking a personal interest in these topics.
  2. Engaging and managing stakeholders, including communicating complex information to different audiences.
  3. Making decisions or recommendations based on the best available evidence, even when the evidence is complex, incomplete or contradictory.
