Are you in finance and looking for a new challenge? Humberside Police are looking for a Finance Officer to join their busy Financial Services Department.
The successful candidate will assist the finance manager in the provision of an effective and comprehensive financial management service to the relevant command/department and support the delivery of a comprehensive and effective financial function to the force.
The post holder will be required to demonstrate methodical, accurate recording and reporting skills and be able to work to tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- The efficient and accurate monitoring, authorisation and reconciling of all expenditure and income.
- The accurate maintenance of budgetary control records and other information.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant procedures and Practice Directions.
- Supports the Finance Manager in the production of grant claims, VAT and other returns, and other information for external bodies.
- Inputs financial information onto ORACLE ensuring information is reconciled and complies with Force policies and procedures.
- Managing and reconciling the organisation’s bank account (s) and supporting the delivery of the Treasury Management function provided by Hull City Council
- Preparing financial forecasts and assisting in their collation in consultation with budget managers
- Assists with the development of Business Cases as required.

What the role requires:
- With a commitment to attaining AAT level 3 or has relevant previous work experience in a financial discipline.
- Working knowledge of computerised financial management information systems.
- Experience of working in a financial environment including use of spreadsheets, databases, computer input and retrieval
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to liaise with people at all levels both internally and externally.
- Possesses an understanding of when matters should be referred to more senior staff.
- Ability to work on their own initiative and prioritise competing demands.
