An exciting opportunity for a home-based, experienced engineer to join Allianz Engineering, a division of one of the largest insurers and financial services in the world.

As an Engineering Technician, you will assess a wide range of mechanical and electrical plant to ensure it is continually safe to use and operate. This could range from an air conditioning unit on a roof and a control cabinet mounted to a wall, through to a submersible pump in a pit and a motor in a plant room.

You will anticipate our client’s needs and help them in ensuring they comply with relevant legislation. You will work closely with other Engineering Technicians and be managed by one of our Senior Operations Team Leaders. You will prepare reports of examination following your inspections using electronic reporting to ensure fast and efficient delivery to our clients.

This role forms an integral part of our business, as you carry out hands-on non-intrusive inspections of plant and equipment across the central London commercial property market. Variety is the unique selling point of this role, visiting multiple locations each day and experiencing many areas, you would not normally have access too. The Engineering Technician role can be physically demanding and may require working at height, working in tight spaces, lifting, and climbing in both hot and cold conditions. It involves exposure to noise and dust, so you need to be happy being in a hands-on environment.

The role requires the successful applicant to be:

  • Up to date on your knowledge and understanding of all relevant compliance and regulatory rules and procedures that relate to the inspection of mechanical and electrical plant.
  • Able to make well-informed decisions, and willing to take responsibility.
  • Possess effective short, medium and long-term planning skills, in order to diarise meetings, visits and work allocation.
  • Able to travel effectively to, and within the central London area.
  • Effectively process documentation, as well as undertaking general administration in a timely manner.
  • Have a willingness to support and deputise for colleagues as and when required.

Skills & Experience:

  • You will need to be passionate about engineering, self-driven with the ability to interact with a variety of clients on a daily basis.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with mechanical or electrical equipment, in a hands-on role such as manufacturing / repairing / maintenance.
  • Strong customer skills are essential, including being competent in good oral and written communication.
  • Time management skills are essential, you will be required to independently organise your week’s work in the most effective manner.
  • As tablets and smartphones are crucial tools for an Engineering Technician, you will need to be comfortable using these as part of your working day.

Qualification requirements:

  • Successful candidates are required to hold a minimum qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering at level 3.
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years hands on experience in either a mechanical or electrical maintenance role.
