The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is the UK’s armed police force dedicated to protecting nuclear material and facilities. We are seeking an experienced commercial professional to lead complex, high-risk procurements and deliver robust commercial strategies across the Operations category.

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is recruiting a Commercial Specialist to lead strategic procurements, manage complex contracts and support key commercial decisions.

About the Role:

We are looking for an individual who is professionally qualified (MCIPS), and experienced Specialist.  The Commercial Specialist will be required to establish, implement and if necessary, enforce strategic procurement policies and ensure the organisation’s compliance with legal obligations. The position has significant latitude to make important decisions.
You will provide expert commercial advice, run procurement processes, ensure compliance, manage procurement and contract lifecycles and support continuous improvement. The role also includes guiding stakeholders and mentoring junior commercial staff.

Skills and Experience:
– MCIPS qualified
– Strong public sector procurement experience ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations such as PCR2015 and PA2023
– Knowledge across multiple categories (Professional Services, IT, FM, Travel/Fleet)
– Experience developing procurement strategies
– Strong stakeholder management
– Experience resolving contractual disputes
– Good analytical, financial and legal understanding
– Able to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities

Working Arrangements:
Hybrid working (60%/40%). Based at Culham until relocation to Harwell in Autumn 2026.
