The Canary Wharf Centre at 50 Bank Street is a purpose-built Specialist Diagnostics & Dental Centre opening in May 2026. It will feature state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities, including MRI and CT scanning, X-ray and mammography, enabling high-quality care in a modern environment designed to support clinical excellence.
The centre will provide a wide range of services, including secondary care for orthopaedics, pain and spinal, dental and maxillofacial, breast and gynaecology, dermatology, and ear, nose and throat, with the ability to perform procedures onsite. It will also offer cardiology, urology, ophthalmology and neurology, alongside primary care services such as health assessments, private GP appointments, women’s health plans, physiotherapy and dental care.

Most patients will benefit from end-to-end care under one roof, with onward referrals within the Bupa network when needed. Job Purpose
To ensure & provide a safe environment for Patients, Staff and Visitors. To carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and repairs to ensure the centre is statutory compliant and fit for purpose
The Post Holder should have a Mechanical or Electrical Background.
Role Overview
The Post Holder will carry out repairs, minor planned installations, paint and decorating tasks, and maintenance work on a wide range of equipment, services, buildings, and plant, as well as undertake works on other sites when required.
As requested, you will carry out design and installation of small new electrical works, fixed plants and building fixtures and fittings.
To ensure all reports and documentation are completed in compliance with the Department’s Workforce Planning Portfolios and Quality system.
Comply with Safe Systems of work operated by the Maintenance Department, together with Statutory Regulations such as Health & Safety, COSHH etc.
Support on small projects within the Hospital
Role Responsibilities and Duties:
- Use relevant tools and test equipment.
- Assist maintenance craftsmen and technicians as necessary.
- Utilize Estates documentation to ensure effective and economic issue of spares/materials from Estates Stores.
- You must ensure that all works you carry out complies with the Health and Safety at Work Act and all current legislation and/or guidance. All safety PPE equipment is available and must be used where required.
- To have made an effective contribution to reaching the Hospital’s strategic objectives and key work programs.
- To contribute to improving patient and visitor experience. To be a customer focused point of contact for Estates and Facilities services.
- Demonstrate a logical and practical approach to tasks.
- Play key role in the delivery of planned preventative maintenance regime as instructed by the Helpdesk and/or Line Manager.
- To perform day to day maintenance on the Hospitals assets.
- To undertake technical tasks according to training and ability. E.g., electrical inspection and testing, act as authorized/responsible person for relevant disciplines.
- To undertake out of hours on call duties as detailed in local agreement.
- Ensure equipment logs and records are maintained and accurate.
- Ability to work in a multi-task environment.
- To use all relevant tools and equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and in compliance with health and safety guidelines, as appropriate.
- Report fault alarms from building management system, attend plant and equipment, investigate and rectification of fault conditions.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
Essential:
C&G Part 1/ NVQ 2 in a relevant subject or its equivalent.
Electrical or Mechanical Background – Must have an Electrical or Mechanical background.
Ability to use a range of Power tools and equipment.
Experience of building services/engineering environment.
Conversant with health and safety issues within a workshop environment
Desirable:
Understanding of ISO9001:2015 or equivalent quality system
PAT Testing training
