Systems Engineer Level 4

Job Overview:
The System Engineer role within a NATS context applies system engineering principles , knowledge and expertise across the Conception, Specification, Design, Analysis, Integration and Management of complex Air Traffic System Domains and across the scope of our architectures and the full lifecycle of our equipment from initial concepts to end of life. Our systems spread across a spectrum of Surveillance, Navigation, Flight Processing, Communications, Support Information, Traffic Synchronisation and both Civil and Military applications.

System Engineering Duties include:

  • Definition and management of system requirements and specifications
  • Generation of solution concepts and feasibility studies
  • Design and implementation of systems through project phases using appropriate methodologies, waterfall, agile etc.
  • Engineering assurance and regulatory compliance
  • Planning and managing system integration, verification and validation activities
  • Providing technical leadership.
  • Coordination of technical outputs across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Configuration Management Support the operational acceptance of the system by engineering authorities.
  • Support the transition planning and entry of operational systems into service.
  • Manage technical risk throughout the lifecycle.

Essential skills & experience:

  • The applicant is expected to hold, as a minimum, an HNC (or an equivalent qualification) in an Engineering related discipline plus relevant experience.
  • Good acumen for absorbing, communicating and utilising technical knowledge with experience gained from working in a technology delivery environment, preferably within a real time, safety related industry.
  • Capable resourceful and confident, with complex technical material and able to support and encourage colleagues throughout the system engineering technical activities.
  • Experience of team working within complex technical timebound projects.
