NATS is the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. It provides air traffic control services from two control centres supporting airports all around the UK, as well as a wide range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries internationally.
Job Purpose:
We are looking for a Solutions Architect (Known in NATS as a Technical Designer – Senior) to support Aeronautical Information Services (AIS). You will be responsible for defining, improving and documenting end-to-end designs and will need the skills and experience to, solicit, collate and feed into service requirements.
You will also be responsible for system assurance that support the AIS and provide support and guidance to projects, contributing to initiatives within NATS and across the wider aviation community, and representing NATS at relevant working groups covering international standards.
Essential skills:
- Strategic thinking to improve the ways in which NATS acquire, store, manage, share and use Aeronautical Information.
- Service Management Expert who can create detailed service designs, processes and procedures, ensuring the integration into service delivery within the highest standards of efficiency and quality.
- Translating business requirements into technical specifications, including data streams, integrations, transformations, databases, technologies and tooling.
- Turning business problems into design by working with business and technology stakeholders to translate problems into designs, aligning user needs with organisational objectives and system requirements.
- Act as a focal point for understanding regulatory and best practice drivers and determining options to address.
- Communication skills (data). Can communicate effectively across multiple Air Traffic Management domains, stakeholders, partners, and external vendors to ensure complex and technical information and language is accessible for non-technical audiences.
- Defining governance. Understanding the importance of governance and help to create the culture, environment and processes to drive better governance and management of services.
- Innovation. You recognise and exploit business opportunities to ensure more efficient and effective performance.
- Defining standards, and principles to improve AIS data management and provision to consumers.
Essential experience:
- Degree in an Engineering or IT subject and equivalent knowledge acquired through experience in a safety critical environment.
- Experience in a Service Design Organisation delivering and developing technologies for safety critical Services to meet operational commitments.
- Demonstrate Leadership in technology design focused on the continual improvement of the service designed to fit a market need whilst balancing all stakeholder requirements.
