Job Purpose:
This role is part of our Corporate & Community Affairs team, which delivers a programme of stakeholder engagement and communications activities to a wide range of external stakeholders.
You’ll be responsible for shaping and delivering NATS’ technology-focused communications and engagement strategy, notably on Research and Development (R&D) and Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR), which have become much more important to the business post-Brexit; and initiating, fostering and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in shaping the development and delivery of NATS’ External Communications strategy, in support of our vision, strategy and priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead NATS’ technology-focused communications, promoting awareness and profile-raising.
- Manage the planning, delivery and co-ordination of communications activities, driving a cohesive and reputation-enhancing approach.
- Identify and manage opportunities for events, external platforms and visits.
- Work closely with R&D and SESAR management teams, developing appropriate solutions and responses and providing in-house consultancy.
- Create compelling content for external publication including blog posts, features, videos, and press releases, and develop the use of social media.
- Supporting and leading cross-discipline campaigns on behalf of the wider Communications team.
- Help raise the priority of communications, ensuring that messaging and activities are aligned, and opportunities shared.
- Act as a core member of the 24/7 Duty Press Office roster & Crisis Response team.
Skills & Experience:
You’ll have significant external Communications experience within a high-profile organisation(s). Previous agency or in-house experience will be considered. Other key requirements include:
- Proactive team player with exceptional communication, writing & editorial skills.
- Excellent knowledge of social media and awareness of how & when to use it.
- Good grasp of political & economic issues and a strong sense of what makes news, with creative flair.
- Confident networking skills, understanding how to establish Media and Aviation contacts and use them effectively.
- Self-starter with energy & strong organisational skills to develop and manage multiple projects, stakeholders and changing agendas.
- A mix of honed diplomacy & business acumen reaching beyond communications.
- Superb influencing skills & the ability to overcome resistance.
- Can work at both a strategic and tactical level with strong attention to detail and an appetite to raise the bar.
