About you

Do you have a relevant degree or professional qualification (NVQ level 4 minimum) in a related field (e.g. Criminology, Management, Probation, Health Care, Social Work, equivalent overseas qualification)?

Do you have experience of working with socially excluded adults? Do you have experience of developing and maintaining partnerships and professional relationships with agencies in voluntary, private and public sectors? Do you have experience of working to set policies and procedures?

Do you have experience of working in an environment that requires confidentiality? Do you have experience of working in an environment that is health and safety conscious? Do you have experience of working with people with multiple and complex needs?

About us

Changing Lives began in 1970, when four people set up Tyneside Cyrenians, offering food and shelter to people experiencing homelessness in the North East. Since then, services have grown and developed to support people experiencing a wide range of personal challenges, including addiction and recovery programmes, employment guidance, help for people in prison or on probation, and support for people experiencing sexual exploitation or domestic abuse.

Today our charity employs over 600 staff, has 400 volunteers and operates from Berwick to London giving people hope and aspiration that their lives can change. We listen carefully to the experiences of people with lived experience and 20% of staff at Changing Lives have previously used services.

About the job

In the North East Changing Lives have been providing gender specific services to women involved in the Criminal Justice System for 12 years.

Women become involved in the Criminal Justice System for a complex range of reasons. In our gender specific services we provide holistic support to women by women, to overcome challenges and address needs, enabling them to successfully move-on from services and live fulfilling, crime free flourishing lives. We will be particularly required to support women with overcoming issues around their:

  • Personal Wellbeing
  • Accommodation
  • Finance, Benefits and Debts
  • Employment, Training and Education
  • Family and Significant Others
  • Lifestyle and Associates
  • Social Inclusion
  • Dependency and Recovery

We work closely with local community organisations to encourage women to access existing resources as well as working to build new opportunities. We support women to build upon their strengths and work through any barriers that are preventing them from progressing and achieving their potential.

This is a unique opportunity and role where you really can make a difference to improve people’s lives. We are seeking dynamic, personable, creative, highly motivated and empathic individuals to be Outreach Coaches in Cleveland, supporting some women to make a successful transition from custody to the community, and engaging with others on a one-to-one basis, community asset building and delivering psycho-social interventions that support and enable women to make positive changes to their lifestyle.
