Are you passionate about community impact, inclusion, and leading meaningful volunteer programmes?  We’re  looking for an inspiring Volunteering Manager to shape and grow our service-wide volunteer offer, helping communities stay safe while supporting the people who generously give their time.  

 

Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, the Volunteering Manager will play a key role in aligning the strategic development and day-to-day management of volunteering across WMFS. The postholder will work with senior leaders, operational teams, HR, safeguarding specialists and external partners to ensure volunteers are recruited, trained, supported and recognised in a way that delivers real community benefit and aligns with our service priorities.  

Responsibilities 

In particular, you will:  

  • develop and deliver a service-wide volunteering strategy, including the tracking and implementation of best practice and national policy initiatives   
  • ensure that the volunteer lifecycle is developed and tracked at all stages, ensuring that those that give their time for free feel valued and engaged  
  • ensure volunteer compliance against a range of essential elements, including DBS, health and safety, safeguarding, and data governance  
  • build strong links with community groups, charities, and public bodies.   

Experience and skills 

 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:  

  • significant experience leading volunteer programmes or large-scale people initiatives  
  • a proven track record of turning strategy into delivery  
  • strong safeguarding, risk and compliance knowledge  
  • excellent communication and influencing skills  
  • confidence using data to inform senior-level decision making.
