The G7 transport modeller will work closely with our Strategic Roads policy teams, and National Highways, to help deliver the multi-billion pound Road Investment Strategy (RIS), and to plan the forthcoming future road investment strategies. In REME, you will help to set the strategic direction for, and scrutinise, the modelling and appraisal of the largest-scale major roads schemes. REME is a dynamic and friendly, inclusive team of 23 analysts including economists, transport modellers, social research and evaluation professionals, located across London, Birmingham and Leeds.

 

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the transport modelling and appraisal used to inform decisions to deliver the largest road schemes in the current, £27bn Road Investment Strategy (RIS) meets DfT’s evolving policy needs and analytical.
  • Developing transport modelling and analytical methods through leading edge research and development of modelling methods, as part of the DfT’s Appraisal & Modelling Strategy, in liaison with analyst colleagues across DfT.
  • Advising on modelling questions, approaches, and results, to inform emerging policy decisions on a range of strategic roads issues as they evolve.

About you

You will need to demonstrate the following experience:

  • Analytical experience in using transport models to solve complex issues. This includes forecasting, demand modelling, and application to appraisal.
  • Can demonstrate successful outcomes of liaising and working with external stakeholders and other analysts on transport modelling projects.
  • Experience of communicating complex data and ideas clearly and tactfully to a range of technical and non-technical audiences in an authoritative, informative and engaging manner.
