Job description

We are looking for an experienced environmental and/or Sustainability manager who has a very keen interest in environmental issues with the drive and determination to help deliver government set targets and environmental initiatives for the agency.

You will be involved in changes that are happening in the country now with the unique opportunity to be involved, helping to make a positive difference for the future.

The role will see you taking on a variety of different tasks, from producing data management reports to writing communication plans to contract management. Whilst you will ensure that legal obligations are met, we will encourage you to use your flare for innovation to find different ways of doing things.

There will be line management responsibilities with this role.

Responsibilities

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring that the Agency meets government set targets and complies with legal and policy obligations.
  • Monitoring actual environmental numbers to ensure that the agency/business units are meeting the environmental targets and that areas of concern are highlighted, addressed and escalated to the PFI commercial forum where necessary and supporting the senior environment manager in the development of strategies and policies in business units.
  • Managing the production of all publicly required reports, including the Agency’s Sustainability report. Ensuring that they are drafted in line with overarching strategy and accurately reflect the positive sustainable actions being undertaken by business units.

About You

To be successful in this role you will be expected to evidence an Environmental Discipline Degree or equivalent experience.
You will also be required to undertake internal auditor training upon employment.

  • Effective stakeholder management skills will allow you to establish relationships with both internal and external colleagues and stakeholders across government, you will be assertive yet diplomatic, not being afraid to challenge when required and understanding the importance of delivering clear communications to successfully engage with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel.

This role will be based in Swansea and we will be operating a hybrid working model that allows you to work between home and on-site giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work, subject to business needs and this also allows for ongoing support, development and collaboration with colleagues.

Due to the evolving nature of the business, vacancies can become available at any time. Therefore, this campaign may create a reserve list to fulfil demand if it arises which will be held for a period of 12 months.
