Reporting to the Head of People, the Strategic volunteering review lead will deliver a service wide review of our volunteering provision.  We want to ensure that the volunteering lifecycle consider all aspects of the volunteering journey, ensuring that our volunteers are effective, safe, valued, and developed.  

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct a thorough evaluation of our current volunteer program, ensuring the perspectives of both volunteers and volunteer managers are incorporated 
  • Organise and facilitate various engagement sessions to gather stakeholder insights on what is working well and what areas need improvement 
  • Research volunteering best practice and benchmark how we perform against this  
  • Highlight any immediate risks and offer mitigation solutions  
  • Develop a report of findings with an action plan for improvement  
  • Present the report and proposal to Senior Leaders.  

Experience and skills 

  • Proven experience of working in a similar role, ideally within the public or volunteer sector  
  • Experience of understanding volunteer best practice   
  • Excellent communication skills, together with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels and build credibility quickly  
  • Highly flexible and adaptable with an enthusiastic approach and a “can do” attitude.  
  • Ability to challenge standard processes and drive improvements.
