About the Role
We’re looking for senior java developers to help us build a technology platform for more than just the needs of AutoTrader.co.uk.
Utilising our public-facing web services and additional external data sources means that we’ll be able to power businesses across the automotive industry.
Spring Boot, Apache SOLR, Cloud SQL and Apache Kafka power our platform and process millions of events per day. As a team, our software developers are responsible for ensuring service availability and responsiveness continue to improve. They work with systems with thousands of requests per second, sub 100 millisecond response times, and 50+ distinct client systems.
Our tech community value collaboration and teamwork. Interactions such as pairing, code reviews and regular stand-ups mean that our software developers stay connected.
What we’re looking for
- An excellent understanding of Java and the JVM
- Knowledge of server-side frameworks such as Spring
- Web application design and RESTful API know-how
- A structured approach to programming, such as TDD
- Passionate about mentoring and coaching and sharing technical expertise
Although not a requirement, helpful experience includes:
- SQL/Relational databases
- Document/Map based storage (eg: MongoDB)
- Working with the Kafka messaging/streaming
Benefits and more
We’re offering a salary between £40,000 and £60,000 dependent on experience, and a flexible benefits package to support your health and well-being. You’ll have 28 days holiday per year, and that’s in addition to bank holidays and half day closures on Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Our Aviva pension scheme offers between 5% to 7% employer contributions depending on the percentage you choose to contribute, and we provide Bupa healthcare cover for all of our employees.
Our employee assistance programme, enhanced parental leave and share-save options and are just some of the other benefits on offer should you decide to join us.
Career development is something that we’re passionate about at Auto Trader, and we all develop and learn things differently. Whether you attend an external conference, utilise a LinkedIn Learning license or choose one of our in-house masterclasses, there’s something for everyone.
As we move into the next stage of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown, our offices are currently open to employees voluntarily. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back on a more regular basis as restrictions continue to ease.
As most of our colleagues are still working from home at the moment, all assessments are taking place virtually.
