Job description

As a Quality Assurance & Compliance Manager, you will work in a small, dynamic team managing a portfolio of electronic data customers, with responsibility for the ongoing assurance of their requests for data from DVLA.  You will also have responsibility for the front-line management of a Data Assurance Compliance Officer, driving a team, taking responsibility and accountability for performance outcomes.

You will be responsible for managing the risk profiling of data customers, including co-ordination of the assurance activities carried out by Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) on DVLA’s behalf.

You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders and as part of a wider / remote working team.

This a varied role where you’ll work with people of all levels inside and outside of DVLA, so if you’re looking for variety in your day to day work and exposure to senior customers and colleagues this could be the role for you!

For this role we will provide Information and Governance training for the right candidates. We will also help you to develop line management skills if you have not previously worked in this capacity.

Responsibilities 

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Front line management of Data Assurance Compliance Officers, in the delivery of data assurance activities in line with the Agency’s risk-based audit assurance framework and formal agreement from Head of Group, Data Governance Board (DGB) and Audit Committee on the nature and extent of checks to be performed for categories of customer or product / service.
  • To maintain relationships and networks as appropriate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a first line escalation contact for the Agency Complaints / FOI / Ministerial Team in the handling of data release related correspondence, investigations, and complaints. Identify, raise & resolve any assurance issues to the Data Assurance Manager in a timely manner.
  • To manage and co-ordinate the delivery of contractual compliance activities by Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) that are conducted on behalf of the Agency. Ensure that intelligence is shared in relation to data customer portfolios appropriately.

This role will be based in Swansea, and we will be operating a hybrid working model that allows you to work between home and on-site giving you greater flexibility about where and when you work, subject to business needs and this also allows for ongoing support, development, and collaboration with colleagues.

Therefore, the expectation is that you will spend a minimum of 60% of your working time based at your principal workplace (DVLA). We would encourage you to discuss the working arrangements for this role with us during the recruitment process.

There is potential for some travel and overnight stays in the future, this would be no more than once a month.

You will need to be a driven individual who thrives working within an assurance environment, whilst providing and maintaining an excellent customer service. You will have strong attention to detail with a flair for analysing information, and you work with a consistently high level of accuracy. You can demonstrate capability of delivering within a quality assurance framework to a high standard.

In addition, you must demonstrate a high degree of trust and discretion towards confidential information/data.
