The Euston Directorate sits within the Major Rail Projects Group, leading delivery of one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure and regeneration programmes. Bringing together a new HS2 station, redevelopment of the existing station, major transport upgrades and wide-ranging commercial development, the programme is central to transforming the Euston area and supporting economic growth.

 

You’ll join a friendly, supportive, high-performing Directorate working across London, Birmingham and Leeds, at the heart of government decision-making. The Development team leads on development strategy, sponsorship of key delivery partners and cross-government engagement, working collaboratively to drive progress and ensure the programme delivers its full potential.

 

With the Euston programme currently primed to move back into delivery having been through a significant reset programme, this role offers an exciting opportunity to work on the substantial development programme for the regeneration of the Euston Campus as it enters a critical phase. The role will involve the sponsorship of corporate matters related to the development workstream, including but not limited to the sponsorship of Lendlease (the Master Developer at Euston), and working collaboratively across organisational boundaries to ensure that the programme is executed to deliver the Government’s vision for Euston.

 

Top Responsibilities

  • Leading the sponsorship of Lendlease’s (the Euston Master Development Partner) corporate activities, including reviewing and approving their Business Plans and spend profiles to ensure they are aligned with Departmental objectives and contractual
  • Leading the sponsorship of the Landowners’ Representative (LREP), the Department’s external advisers who manage the contractual arrangements with Lendlease on behalf of the Department and Network Rail, including scrutinising management and financial information, and reviewing and approving their annual Business
  • Support Euston Strategy and Programme Team in development of Euston Programme Business Case, including future Development Business Case
  • Working with wider team on implementing new working arrangements with the Euston Delivery Company, including LREP’s place within
  • Leading the preparation of advice and briefing for Ministers and senior officials on all development or sponsorship-related issues, for governance boards, meetings and
  • Working with wider team on engagement with key external Euston
  • Leading/supporting on other Masterplan and Development Division workstreams as needed, including but not limited to cross-government engagement and policy-making, master planning C planning reform.
  • Working collaboratively across the Euston Directorate and Euston Delivery Company to ensure strategic alignment between the different elements of the Euston

About You

This wide-ranging post will require a mix of project delivery, policy and commercial skills. In addition:

  • You will have excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and can develop strong networks and positive, collaborative relationships within DfT, with Euston delivery partners and with wider.
  • You enjoy and can quickly learn and develop an understanding across a range of areas, such as commercial development, strategic engagement, and transport.
  • You thrive in complex multi-stakeholder environments where competing priorities must be balanced and are confident in providing constructive challenge where necessary to ensure the best outcomes are delivered.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Required experience:

To be successful in this role you will need to hold or be willing to work towards the Government Project Delivery Accreditation once in role.

  • Experience of project delivery on complex projects and/or programmes and/or of policy development.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of drafting briefing and advice on complex topics, under challenging timescales.
