Under the leadership of the Community Outreach Team Leader, you will manage your case load to deliver community-based visits to deliver prevention and education interventions in a range of settings, including in people’s homes and educational establishments. You will work with adults with a range of complex needs, aiding them to reduce the risk of fire in their homes. You will also work with children and young people who may have complex needs. They could display fire setting behaviour or have an unhealthy interest in fire, so you’ll provide education around actions and consequences.
You will have a passion for supporting those with multiple complex needs, and be comfortable carrying a defined case load, working with professionals who have shared responsibilities for your client’s health and support needs. Your interventions will support individuals, and reduce their risk and vulnerability to fire, improving their health, safety, wellbeing and quality of life. You’ll also be a team player, and comfortable working in a variety of settings.
Responsibilities
As an individual with a passion for supporting those with multiple complex needs, fire setting behaviours and unhealthy behaviours with fire, specifically you will:
- work across varied settings (homes, schools, centres, PRUs) managing a caseload with ongoing support for complex fire-related risks
- provide accessible support, advice, and guidance for diverse West Midlands communities
- collaborate with partner professionals to improve health, safety, wellbeing and reduce fire risk/vulnerability
- undertake any necessary training that the role requires.
Experience and skills
Essential skills or experience
- ability to deliver interventions that reduce fire risk and vulnerability while improving health, safety, wellbeing, and quality of life
- strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with individuals with complex needs
- experience supporting adults, children, and young people to reduce vulnerability to fire
- enthusiastic, compassionate, and skilled in administration
- full driving licence
- ability to contribute to developing new systems and processes to enhance Prevention activities and education
- computer literacy, with experience using Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and maintaining accurate digital case notes.
Desirable skills or experience
- qualification in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
- experience in community safety and/or health and wellbeing
- fire safety tutoring level 3 (open college network)
- knowledge of National Curriculum, Local Education Authorities, and Academy networks
- educational experience with young people and adults
- BSL interpretation skills with relevant qualifications.
