We are looking for a brilliant Politics Reporter to join our Mirror team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for generating exclusive content and reporting on politics in Westminster, the rest of the UK, Europe and America.

We are looking for someone with a passion for politics, a nose for a story and an ability to deliver agenda-setting stories for the Mirror website and newspaper.

You will be joining one of the best – and friendliest – political teams in Parliament. A strong work ethic and a willingness to be a team player are essential.

What will the role involve?

  • Demonstrating the highest level of reporting skills, initiative and sound judgement in a demanding newspaper environment.
  • Demonstrating a sound grasp of the political and moral stance of our titles and identifying and developing stories accordingly to our readers.
  • Turning complicated facts and events into easy-to-read, informative, well-written stories and news features.
  • Using your extensive contacts book and the ability to find off-diary stories whilst compiling to media law and yoru Ipso expertise.
  • Ensuring brand values are maintained and that digital publishing best practice is adhered to.
  • Generating content according to the requirements of the digital newsroom publishing schedule, including a minimum output for each key audience spike, as directed
Who are we looking for?

  • You will have at least five years of experience in journalism
  • You are creative and passionate, with an awareness of quality digital storytelling.
  • You will have an NCTJ-accredited journalism qualification (or equivalent) and will use it to
    generate content which engages local audiences and meets the standards set by Reach.
  • We want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many diverse communities as we seek to grow new audiences.
