Job Purpose:

We are recruiting for a qualified accountant to provide accounting support to the Financial Planning and Reporting team. This is an interesting and varied role which will provide additional bandwidth to the existing team to enable improvements to our existing processes. A key part of the role will include supporting the preparation of the yearly budget and subsequent quarterly forecasts, and supporting the reporting team in producing the monthly performance reporting for the UKPN group to our shareholders in Hong Kong, the Board and our Executive Management Team.

 

Dimensions

The Planning and Reporting team looks after the consolidated monthly reporting for UK Power Networks to the shareholder and internal stakeholders; this includes the consolidation and reporting of monthly results, annual budget and periodic forecasts for the group, as well as preparation of ad hoc analysis to support senior management in setting financial targets and reviewing performance against them.

 

 

Principal Accountabilities:

 

  1. To play a role in the medium and long term planning processes to deliver robust budgets and forecasts for each of the directorates within the company, compiling of a fully reconciled set of financial statements.

 

  1. The preparation of cash flow statements and working capital information for budgeting and forecast purposes, and for monthly reporting.

 

  1. Assist with the understanding and preparation of the monthly performance report for the Executive Management.

 

  1. The preparation of financing ratios to test compliance with bank and pension covenants for both the Planning and Reporting teams.

 

  1. Assist with the month end reporting processes including preparing commentary and analysis of variances to budget and forecast
  2. To work on other adhoc projects where required

 

  1. Identify and support improvements in the team’s working practices including efficiencies, and better quality reporting and analysis.

 

 

Nature and Scope:

This is a professional role which includes liaising with other areas of finance. You will be expected to have good communication skills and a professional attitude to work and those you deal with.

 

This position is part of the finance team supporting the activities of the whole of team but with either a particular interest in Financial Planning and Reporting.  The post will be based in Crawley and report to the Planning Manager, but will also be supporting the Financial Reporting Manager.
