ND012 – Assistant Support Worker Nights
Fixed Term until 31st May 2020 (with potential further 12 month extension)
Newcastle upon Tyne
£17,625 pro rota
36 hours per week – rota basis 3 days on, 3 days off

Are you compassionate and empathetic? Do you have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children, with experience of working with and providing support to vulnerable people? Do you have a Health and Social Care qualification?
You’ll be a good listener, offering support and advice skills demonstrating the ability to assess the needs of callers experiencing domestic violence. You will have emotional resilience, confidence to deal with stressful situations, lone working and the ability to be able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
You’ll have knowledge of Safeguarding Procedures relating to clients and other people at risk of abuse, Health and Safety, Lone Working Procedures and risk management. Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children. Good understanding of child protection issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues. Knowledge of the referrals processes, particularly to housing, benefits and legal as it relates to domestic violence.

About the job
To provide a night shift service which will ensure a safe and secure environment to female clients who are victims of domestic abuse, whilst providing support in a flexible and person centred way. To provide information, advice and support to callers who telephone the refuge 24hour advice line.
