Right now, we’re looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our CES team based in the Southwest of England. Here you will be responsible for the corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance in all areas of the process including District Heating plant rooms, pumping stations and control systems, District Heating pipework networks, heat metering equipment and boilers.
You’ll also assist the Operations & Maintenance lead engineers to help plan, co-ordinate and complete maintenance activities, both mechanical and electrical, that impact/are likely to impact on the operational performance of the District Heating Network. The aim is to reduce unplanned unavailability keeping our customers on supply 24/7 and improve the performance of the assets while ensuring all major costs are identified early in the process to assist with Business planning.

The successful candidate will join a Call Out Rota 1 week in 5, with a standby retainer. Overtime for callouts will be paid in addition to this.

Key responsibilities
• Complete planned and reactive maintenance activities within plant rooms, including general plumbing, heating and HVAC works, to support the safe and efficient operation of District Heating Networks (DHN) and communal heating schemes.
• Carry out Energy Centre and Heat Substations plant monitoring.
• Diagnose, repair and resolve mechanical and electrical faults across a range of systems.
• Following correct working processes and capturing accurate visit information.
• Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and PPE requirements, always including the correct use of PPE and adherence to company and statutory procedures.
• Contribute to the achievement of team performance measures and KPIs, supporting continuous improvement in service delivery.
• Supporting other teams to deliver the necessary services to CES’s customers , minimising disruption and maintaining high standards of customer experience.
• Provide maintenance support across the Southwest of England (SP, BS, BA and RG postcodes), with flexibility to travel to other UK locations where required.
• Participate in on-call or out-of-hours support when necessary to ensure continuity of service.

What we need from you
• Mechanical/Electrical NVQ Level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) with proven experience in general plumbing, heating, mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Full UK Driving License.
• The ability to innovate and appropriately challenge existing processes to improve efficiency.
• A willingness to develop the site by looking for best practise and ways to improve the plant operational and commercial performance.
• The capability and willingness to achieve E. ON’s required competency levels – Safe System of Work (SSOW), Contractor Safety and Engagement (CSE).
• Strong understanding of risk assessments, procedures and safe working practices.
• Comfortable using IT systems and computers to record and manage work activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to form effective working relationships with site and external staff at all levels.
• An ability to prioritise effectively and consistently deliver against tight time constraints.

It would be great if you had
• Domestic gas boiler experience with relevant gas safety registration.
• HIU and DHN Experience.
