Your new role:

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance & Overhaul Materials Team Leader to join our train maintenance facility in London North Pole. The successful candidate will manage Planned Maintenance, Outstations, KPI activities and Overhaul material activities including monitoring of parts in the repair cycle, organisation of any logistics requirements to support these activities.

Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Management of the planned maintenance at the both internal and external warehouses
  • Support for KPI checks and interface to Central Materials Team for ordering requirements
  • Management of the Stores in the Outstations.  (Process and dealing with DAA staff/Auditing and Checking all Outstations every month)
  • Support for the Bogie Overhaul/Heavy maintenance programme (management of the Overhaul operatives)
  • Support with CI activities in the Supply Chain stores/ Warehousing processes
  • Prepare warranty/repairs material to vendor for the heavy maintenance / overhaul material
  • Arranging transport between TMCs, External Warehouses and vendors
  • Support, when required, with purchasing of indirect materials
  • Linking into the Central Materials team with material requirements and planning against lead times
  • Linking into the Central Planning Cell to assist in ensuring required material is available
  • Implementing and assisting in material kitting
  • Operate the necessary stores equipment such as fork lift, electric pallet truck & cranes.
  • Completion of management reporting
  • Ensure that the management and supervision of all personnel within the team function is professional and effective identifying training and development opportunities to increase skills and improve efficiency
  • Build strong relationship with other key departments and adopt a collaborative approach
  • To be involved in Hitachi Rail Europe’s staff development and training and participate in PDP procedures

About you:


  • At least 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and to communicate clearly and effectively any concerns
  • Microsoft office capable (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Good analytical ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Commitment to working as part of a team
  • An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment



  • Engineering background with clear basic knowledge



  • To be aware of, actively promote, and implement Hitachi’s ethos, culture and values.
  • To be involved in Hitachi Rai’s staff development and training and participate in PDP procedures.

  • Warehousing experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering environment
  • Process management experience in Stores/Overhaul /Outstations management
  • SAP Experience
