MyLondon needs an outstanding reporter to join the Local Democracy Reporting team, a high-profile public journalism scheme backed by the BBC.
You’ll cover Ealing, Hillingdon and Hounslow, three of the busiest news patches in London.
Heathrow, HS2 and Crossrail are all part of this beat alongside radically changing commuter towns and communities hit hard by coronavirus.
You’ll report council meetings and key decisions, break exclusives and use your social media experience to drive audience and engagement.
MyLondon is one of the most exciting newsrooms in the UK which has more than doubled in size to a team of 50 journalists this year.
Your stories will appear on the MyLondon website – and they’ll also be accessible to the BBC, other publications and broadcasters throughout the region, bringing a huge potential audience to your work.
The Ideal Candidate
- You’re passionate about politics and getting to the stories that really matter.
- Dynamic and driven, you’re as comfortable covering council meetings as building community contacts – and you’re always on the lookout for a hard-hitting FOI.
- You’ll be NCTJ trained, adept at tight deadlines – and have 100wpm shorthand.
- Crucially, you understand the importance of holding people in power to account.
