Are you a confident communicator with a flair for producing compelling copy and content? If so, we’re looking for an Internal Communications specialist to join our Corporate Communications team at Humberside Police.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring our colleagues across the force are engaged with our force mission, values and strategic priorities, and that they feel part of and connected to the organisation.

From contributing to our rewards and recognition agenda to supporting our values and culture, showcasing the great things that are happening across the force, sharing new policies and procedures, advising on change projects and giving our people a voice…no two days are the same.

This is a varied and fast paced role, requiring someone who is dynamic, efficient and strategically minded, with a passion for helping make our communities safer and stronger.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the strategic aims of Humberside Police though the delivery of high quality, fit for purpose internal communications.
  • Work with business leaders to produce creative messages on priority corporate issues aligned to Corporate Communications calendar.
  • To ensure that all written and visual material is legally sound, adheres to the Corporate Communications style guide, is appropriate for release and is issued in a timely manner, targeting relevant audiences with the right information at the right time.
  • To maintain an awareness of Force wide developments, taking a proactive approach in supporting and providing advice to senior officers and staff on all internal communication matters.
  • Work closely with key members of the Corporate Communications Unit to ensure the internal elements of marketing campaigns and press releases are created and promoted accordingly.
  • To support and add value to events, ensuring events are suitably branded and support delivery where appropriate.

What the role requires:

  • Educated to degree level in a Corporate Communications related subject and/or with equivalent previous experience in a communications or journalism role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Has the ability to write and present information to a diverse audience.
  • IT skills in creative/design software including Adobe, Canva and Premier Pro.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Ability to create and deliver effective communication plans.
  • Carries out tasks in an accurate and methodical manner with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
