Changing Lives is a national charity that supports over 17,000 people each year. We are a well-respected, growing organisation dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable people across the UK.
We began as a soup run supporting people who were homeless in the North East over 45 years ago, and are proud to still have our main base and central office in the North East. Since 1970, our services have grown and developed to support people experiencing a wide range of personal challenges, including addiction and recovery programmes, employment guidance, help for people in prison or on probation, and support for people experiencing sexual exploitation or domestic abuse.
We’re looking for committed and compassionate professionals who share our enthusiasm for changing lives.
About the job
As a Peer Mentor Trainer & Coordinator you will support the development, and possible accreditation, of an Employment Specialist Peer Mentoring training course. You will also promote the offer to community groups across Newcastle and recruit learners for the training.
You will deliver the course to a minimum of 8 candidates and provide 1 to 1 and group support to the Employment Specialist Peer mentors for a minimum of 6 months after completion of the training to support them in their delivery of employment support to at least 1 other person in their community.
As a Peer Mentor Trainer & coordinator you will have experience of developing and delivering training. With excellent interpersonal skills, you will help candidates become more confident and motivated to enable them to achieve their goals, ensuring a consistent and high quality service. As the majority of delivery will be delivered via outreach within the community, access to transport will be essential and the Peer Mentor Trainer & coordinator may need to work outside of normal hours when required to respond to candidates needs.
