The Control room manager will be an organised, self-motivated person, taking responsibility in leading 7 Control room operators, ensuring there is cover 24/7/365. Our Heat Networks control room based at our Citigen site in central London monitors c70 sites equating to over 51,000 customers.

You will be responsible for providing strong leadership and strategic direction, ensuring accurate reporting, and guiding the team in maintaining our safe system of work. This includes overseeing the remote monitoring of Safety systems, Heat Networks sites, heat pumps, Citigen plant, and B2B assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement procedures and review strategies to ensure and maintain a safe and high performing team.
  • Oversee SCADA system monitoring, critical alarms and ensure our Safe systems of Work are observed for all planned and reactive tasks that take place at EIS Heat Networks energy centres.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance our remote monitoring and control systems to ensure effective service delivery and control monitoring functions are maintained.
  • Support and influence any projects that impact CCR Operations
  • Lead the team to deliver accurate recording of all CES incidents and Safe Systems of work within Opralog.
  • Produce the daily incident tracker within Power BI being responsible for accuracy of data and a true representation of all Heat Networks incidents.
  • Collection and analysis of data to support a range of business processes such as contract negotiation, benchmarking, performance monitoring and identify areas of improvement.
  • Manage the planned outage process being responsible for approval of all works and managing expectations of stakeholders.
  • Maintain site visibility and effective communication across all Heat Networks sites, collaborating with teams and contractors to promptly resolve issues.
  • Provide detailed plant performance data using a variety of systems to produce management reports and analysis on gas plant, CHP, and renewable generating assets as required by the business.
  • Support the Citigen General Manager and general maintenance team as required.

What we need from you

  • Educated to HNC/degree standard in Engineering or Science or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and operational engineering experience gained within an energy environment or an associated sector.
  • Excellent understanding of the safety and commercial effects of operating District Heating and
  • Energy Generation schemes.
  • Experience of developing, implementing and operating within safety, environmental and operational policies, frameworks and statutory legislation.
  • Direct line management experience with a proven ability of delivering results through people.
  • Commercial acumen with a strong understanding of plant safety and processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to take a confident and diplomatic approach with colleagues, contractors and customers.
  • Excellent knowledge of SCADA and other types of monitoring and control systems along with strong skills in MS Excel and Word.

It would be great if you had

  • A good working knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation and standards to IOSH as a minimum or NEBOSH/ IOSH.
  • Experience of working with and developing Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as MSD or SAP.
