Role Overview

The role of the Clinical Nurse Educator for OPD, Diagnostics & Primary Care is vital to the service to ensure. You will be supporting the learning and development of all nursing staff, managing their educational requirements and ensure their capabilities to deliver safe, high quality patient focused care.

You will work closely with the Lead for Practice Development, nurses and other healthcare practitioners assisting in identifying and defining areas of improvement, whilst developing targeted teaching and learning activities to facilitate improvement.

What you’ll do:

•Working clinically within the directorate on a regular planned basis, or in accordance with an identified urgent need, supporting patient care and individual nurses in developing their practice.
•You will act as a mentor and assessor and act up for directorate management leadership as required or requested. And ensure high standards of clinical practice are maintained and evidenced by national and local audit and patient outcome and satisfaction data.
•Contribute to an annual educational strategy and training needs analysis for the directorate.
•Implement the strategic nursing vision (including the educational strategy) by ensuring nursing decisions follow a ‘patient first’ philosophy with shared decision making
•Work clinically within the directorate on a regular planned basis, or in accordance with an identified urgent need, supporting patient care and individual nurses in developing their practice.
•You will contribute to the reporting and investigation of incidents and complaints and subsequent developments to practice. Also develop and review contemporary evidence based policies, protocols and risk assessments.

•Network locally, regionally and nationally to support the sharing of best practice to ensure own practice demonstrates current knowledge.
