Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency’s (DVLA’s) IT Directorate is on an exciting journey, helping the agency to deliver seamless customer experiences both internally and externally. We are looking for someone to be a part of our Workforce Management Team to manage and deliver several Information Technology Services (ITS) related initiatives.
As part of ITS, Digital Strategy & Capability Centre is at the core of the department providing centralised services to ITS which support the business in meeting its objectives and enabling service delivery.
The Business Support Manager role is varied, and you will work closely within the team to produce people related MI reports and dashboards, improving working practices, providing advice and support on matters relating to people and process, acting as an interface between ITS and HR on a day-to-day basis, and transacting and delivering prompt and accurate payments and rewards for our people.
You will also develop and maintain productive working relationships across the IT department and with key stakeholders both internal and external to DVLA.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
- To communicate and ensure adherence of ITS policies, relating to recruitment and resourcing, such as Onboarding, Offboarding, Working Time, Long Term Deputising, Allowances, Job Profiles, Secondments, Attendance Management and Health & Safety.
- Create and develop recruitment and resourcing documentation and information required, to ensure the delivery of efficient services for the capability areas, including the System Support Allowance (SSA) and the annual Government Digital & Data Capability Assessment Process.
- Supporting the delivery and management of the ITS Reward & Recognition programme and associated budget.
- Managing and transacting out of hours System Support Allowance (SSA) payments for ITS staff.
- Coordinating and communicating DVLA and ITS Attendance Management and Health & Safety policies.
- Production and analysis of Management Information (MI) reports and dashboards to facilitate business decisions and improve business outcomes.
- Research, recommend, and implement processes that help support the growth and change of our service offering.
Currently, there are no line management responsibilities for this role.

Person specification
You will have strong attention to detail, be proficient in Microsoft Office packages to ensure management information reports, dashboards, reward and recognition initiatives and staff allowances are accurate.
You will have exceptional planning, coordination, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate, influence and challenge across all levels.
You will be a highly resilient person who handles change well and naturally adapts to changing workloads and environments, the role has weekly, monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual tasks and so being able to adapt to the change of subject and pace is key.
