Job Description

This role involves overseeing and coordinating key functions related to business planning, risk control framework management, and assurance activities at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). You will collaborate within a small, dynamic team to support the development of the Business Plan, which outlines DVLA’s commitments for the upcoming years, providing clear direction and measurable targets for success. You will lead the assurance mapping process and manage the Risk Control Framework.

As part of this role, you will be responsible for drafting DVLA’s goals and objectives identifying business plan measures to achieve them. You will ensure that the business plan is effectively communicated and executed, providing guidance to teams and departments.

Additionally, you will oversee the creation and maintenance of an assurance map, identifying key risks, controls, and assurance activities. You will ensure that appropriate measures are in place to monitor risk and compliance, engaging with key stakeholders.

Strong stakeholder management skills are essential as you will work closely with senior leadership, internal departments, and other Executive Agencies to align business goals and provide reassurance the Risk Control Framework is effectively maintained.

Job Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Engaging with key stakeholders across the agency to identify key performance indicators for the agency Business Plan
  • Working with directors, senior managers and stakeholders across the agency as necessary to shape the Business Plan
  • Engaging with stakeholders across the agency to roll out a consistent assurance mapping process, assessing and addressing for gaps, duplication and linking this to the agency risk process
  • Managing the risk control framework, to communicate and evidence adherence to the (RCF) providing advice and support where needed

Person specification

You will bring experience in drafting high quality documents and risk management.

As a proactive, self-starter, you will possess excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage a busy workload with ease. You take great pride in your work and your attention to detail is second to none. You have the ability to see things strategically understanding the wider impacts.

Your strong interpersonal and communication skills allow you to engage confidently and professionally with stakeholders, including those at senior levels. You enjoy influencing others, guiding them to make decisions that align with both business and departmental objectives. You can work calmly under pressure, remaining composed and showing resilience.
