Who are we?

Changing Lives is a national charity that supports over 17,000 people each year. We are an innovative organisation dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable people across the UK, and we continue to grow from strength to strength.

This year we celebrate our 50th Anniversary rising from our humble beginnings as a soup kitchen, supporting the homeless in the North East of England. Since 1970, our services have grown and developed, to support people experiencing a wide range of personal challenges, including; addiction and recovery programmes, employment guidance, help for people in prison or on probation, and support for people experiencing sexual exploitation or domestic abuse.

With that growth, we have evolved and our workforce has now grown to over 650 committed and dedicated employees throughout the UK, who are proud to be part of our journey.

Do you have a GCSE in English?  Do you have graduate level education or above in a relevant subject area?

Do you have experience in project management? Do you have experience in commissioning/business development?

Do you have professional level and demonstrable writing experience in a similar role?

Do you have experience of writing for different target audiences? Do you have the ability to understand and interpret operational activity and translate into clear narrative?

If so, the role of Business Development Manager could be for you.

Working with Geri, who heads up the Business Development function, and other managers; you will proactively develop new and existing business within your growth portfolio.

Although our head office is North East based, Covid19 has shown us that you can remain fully connected through the use of technology and build meaningful dialogue remotely.

This role isn’t for the faint hearted. We are looking for someone with a tenacious attitude, who empowers others and can truly develop key stakeholder relationships at all levels.

You will lead on delegated bid activity, coordinating the management of processes and remodelling new, and existing business as required. High quality reporting is key to success, to ensure you reach all audiences, securing the bid and supporting business growth.

Success will not be quick, so we are looking for someone who is able to remain positive, look for new opportunities and be an ambassador for the charity.

Experience of a business development role in a Charitable sector is advantageous, however an ability to demonstrate success and how you are able to hit the ground running is equal of importance.
