Part time (21 hours – long shifts Wed/Thurs)

Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover – 1 Year)

The post holder will be welcomed into a team of Respiratory and Sleep Physiologists within a rapidly growing Lung and Sleep Centre at Cromwell Hospital. Based in the Clinical Investigation Centre (CIC), this role supports the daily running of a state-of-the-art lung function service, ensuring consistent delivery of a patient-centred, safe, effective, and agile service.

How you’ll help us make health happen

The post holder will join a growing team of Respiratory and Sleep Physiologists within the Lung and Sleep Centre at Cromwell Hospital. They will contribute to the daily running of a modern lung function service, delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care to both adult and paediatric patients. The role involves interpreting conventional respiratory diagnostics and supporting with more complex testing. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold regulatory standards and contribute to quality assurance, including equipment maintenance and stock control.

The role offers hands-on experience in a modern respiratory diagnostics service and would be an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their clinical skills and gain exposure to private healthcare. The successful candidate will work closely with consultants and clinical teams to support high-quality patient care and contribute to service delivery. They will also be involved in governance activities, quality assurance, and regular team meetings, with opportunities for ongoing learning and development.

Essential:

  • Exhaled Nitric Oxide Testing (FeNO)
  • Spirometry, DLCO, Body Plethysmography
  • Reversibility Studies

Desirable:

  • Skin Prick Allergy Testing
  • 6 Minute Walk Tests (6MWT)
  • Respiratory Muscle Strength Assessment (MIPs/MEPs)
  • Respiratory Polygraphy

Key Skills / Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology or equivalent specialist training.
  • Minimum 1-year post-qualification experience in a Clinical Respiratory Physiology Department.
  • Registration with AHCS or equivalent; membership of ARTP or ERS desirable.
  • Proficient in Office 365 and clinical systems; experience with private healthcare delivery is a plus.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • Passionate about respiratory medicine and committed to delivering outstanding patient care.
