This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to lead  Maritime and Aeronautical operations. This is a varied role where no two days are the same, from running business management groups and liaising with senior-level emergency service partners, to setting strategic direction and ensuring an effective Coastguard response to major incidents.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating and working with HMCG Head of Standards and HMCG Policy and Technical Training Leads to identify, discuss and respond to operational competency trends identified throughout aeronautical and maritime operations, by instigating measurable, achievable and time-bound improvement strategies.
  • The strategic leadership and management of Aeronautical Rescue, ensuring its staff are adequately resourced, trained, led and managed, and taking a leading role in coordinating the work between the HMCG Aviation Policy, Technical, Technical Training and Stakeholder Engagement teams to ensure seamless aeronautical operational delivery, risk management, stakeholder liaison, and a swift and flexible response to emerging operational trends and issues.
  • The Maritime and Air Business Management Groups, ensuring that the groups effectively identify and propose mitigations to emerging operational risks, develop and monitor the control measures for recognised risks and raise significant risks to the Chief Officers Group (COG) for inclusion in the directorate Risk Register.
  • Effective line management of the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) Managers for the JRCC and MRSC London and Aeronautical Commanders within Aeronautical Rescue, ensuring they provide strong, competent and effective leadership.
