The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police service that’s dedicated to the nuclear industry. Our vision is to be recognised as a provider of a world-class service for the protection of nuclear material and facilities. Given the critical nature of our work, it’s vital that we provide robust vetting services for employees joining and working at the CNC. As our Vetting Administrator, you’ll help us to do just that. 

Our officers and staff are trusted to perform a crucial role. It’s therefore important that all new recruits are thoroughly vetted before they join our team. Organised and efficient, you’ll help us with this process. You’ll give general administration support including managing applications for ID cards to be issued by the CNC, managing the shared inbox, notifying individuals of clearances received, maintaining databases, and collating statistical information as required.

You will be working independently but as part of a wider team, to provide support. You must be able to advise colleagues and cope with a fast-paced office setting.

This challenging role will see you dealing with highly sensitive information. We expect honesty, integrity and a high level of discretion. You also need to stay focused, even when the pressure is on. With so much at stake, you must pay attention to detail and check the accuracy of your work. Ideally, you’ll have worked with confidential data before.

Please note that this role requires national security vetting clearance.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 

  • Possess good powers of concentration and an ability to work independently, accurately, and methodically under pressure, handling a number of matters simultaneously, whilst meeting time limits.
  • Possess good IT skills to a level that will allow the proficient operation of computer systems used by the organisation. This will include a variety of departmental specific databases.
  • Experience of highly effective team working.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issues/information.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, with a wide range of internal and external individuals.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise a heavy and varied workload. Self-motivated and flexible.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
