We are looking for a Weekly Reporter to join our Reach PLC office in the North West.
Provide content for Reach PLC’s Merseyside, Cheshire and Greater Manchester weekly print titles as well as for our InYourArea digital platform and the Manchester Evening News and Liverpool Echo where print-specific content is required

To source and create engaging content for our weekly titles
Contribute to strong-performing weekly titles across the North West portfolio as directed by the Assistant Head of Print
To package content digitally for InYourArea
To provide bespoke print content for the daily titles as required
To work closely with the Assistant Head of
Print to maximise all opportunities of efficiency
Deliver high-quality, accurate and well-written stories to deadline as directed by the
Assistant Head of Print
To boost the editorial content of our weekly titles supporting their strong marketplace performance
To nurture contacts and bring in stories from all corners of our communities as well as to report from councils, courts and inquests as directed
Actively engage with readers using social media tools and to use online resources to dig out fascinating stories in our communities
Be creative with a stream of ideas for content that will engage and interest the readers
Ensure brand values are maintained
Write content in a way which meets standards set by the business in terms of quality, consistency, legal accuracy and IPSO compliance
Maintain a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of media law and IPSO code
Ensure appropriate and responsible use of social media in line with Reach Plc policies and strategic goals
Undertake company/editorial projects and any other duties from time to time as reasonably requested by management.
Maintain the highest personal standards of professionalism
The ideal candidate
Reach Plc or equivalent journalist qualification (NCTJ or relevant time-served experience)
Excellent understanding of what makes a story
An inquiring mind and a fascination with people
Excellent writing skills
The ability to build a strong and trusted network of contacts
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to take instruction as well as manage own workload efficiently

Flexible approach to shifts
Up-to-date knowledge of media law and IPSO code
