Tester

The Role

As a Tester you will join our Digital and Change team and contribute towards the successful delivery of high quality software changes across our systems and platforms.

You will achieve this by playing a proactive part in the design and execution of testing scenarios and providing analysis of test results as part of the testing team.

We can be flexible on location (within the UK) as this role offers remote working opportunities, however we would expect the successful candidate to commute to one of our offices (either Bexhill or Leicester) as required.

How you will make a difference

  • Play a key role in the design and execution of testing scenarios (both automated and manual) including record keeping
  • Provide analysis of test results and timely raising of defects
  • Proactively contribute to the integrity of testing and acceptance activities to minimise defect leakage into production
  • Support the Test Lead in the identification of problem areas and the suggesting, reviewing and implementing of corrective actions
  • Conformance to agreed process standards and industry specific regulations
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement through regular retrospectives
  • Provide ideas to improve efficiency and help with the implementation of these suggestions
  • Deliver test results to agreed timelines
  • Identify risks and issues – including timely escalation or mitigation as required
  • Achieving optimal levels of test automation by using available tools and/or through the adoption of new tools and processes
  • Proactively collaborate with all members of the delivery teams to gain common understanding
  • Contribute to the Testing Community of Practice
  • Participate in post live testing by providing overnight and on call support where necessary

Required Skills/Experience

  • 3+ Years of practical experience working in a testing role – supporting and testing enterprise level customer and employee facing applications
  • Experience in creating test approach, design and execution (both manual and automated) for small to medium size initiatives
  • Good understanding of various testing methodologies
  • Understanding of BDD and/or TDD
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodology
  • Experience using the following tools and technologies:-
    • Guidewire Insurance Suite
    • ALM Octane, JIRA (or equivalent)
    • Test Automation Frameworks using Selenium, Cucumber, TestNG (or equivalent)
    • Microsoft SQL Server/SOAP/XML/Thunderhead/Hexawise (Desirable but not Essential)
  • Hands-on experience in code repository, CI and build tools like GitHub, SVN, Jenkins, Maven (or equivalent) (Desirable but not Essential)
  • ISTQB Certified (or equivalent) (Desirable but not Essential)
