Technical Delivery Director (NATS Services)

Job Purpose:

The Technical Delivery Director (NATS Services) is responsible for the leadership of the Engineering and Programmes teams within the NATS Commercial business supporting aviation customers in the UK and overseas. In addition to the provision of a safe and resilient technical service to our customers is the delivery of all major change programmes and the delivering the technical strategy that underpins the wider commercial strategies

Duties include:

  • Provide leadership to the technical delivery teams, promoting a culture of excellence and raising management capability and performance
  • Accountable to the Technical Director (NATS) for the safe delivery of all Technical Services
  • Create conditions that deliver a highly competent, energetic, engaged, and motivated workforce who are committed and aligned to delivery outcomes
  • Ensure discipline and robust management of the commercial models deployed across all business activity, creating opportunities for synergy, cost management and value enhancement
  • Champion delivery of a service-based operation and culture
  • Provide technical expertise and due diligence, ensuring that technical and regulatory standards are applied
  • Lead the provision of all service management activities including service desk and field operations and the development of revised processes, procedures and working practices to optimise service delivery as new capabilities are delivered
  • As a core member of the NATS Services Leadership Team, provide the business with technical leadership, technical expertise, and regulation guidance

Skills and Experience:

  • Honours degree in a numerate subject (scientific, technical, or business oriented) or equivalent acquired through experience
  • Well-developed communication, influencing and negotiation skills gained in a complex organisation
  • Significant business transformation and commercial experience with a proven track record of developing and implementing innovative solutions
  • Demonstrable capability in applying the principles and developing a culture of service management
  • Demonstrable resilience and highly developed competence in situational awareness and leadership
  • Strong, credible impact, with a demonstrated capability to resolve conflict; build, maintain and utilise relationships to achieve business goals
  • Collaborative working style with a clear focus on delivering outcomes
