Job Purpose:
We’re looking for Systems Engineer that specialises in Networks to join our Voice Communications & Networks team. The team responsibilities are fourfold.
- Provide ongoing 3rd line support and subject matter experts for the in-service voice communications and networks systems at Airports.
- Support projects for new, modified or upgraded voice communications and networks.
- Provide consultancy to other areas of NATS, specifically for networks and security.
- Support bid work for voice communications and networks related bids.
The team are responsible for the architecture, requirements, design, deployment, assurance, acceptance, and through life support of Air Traffic Management networks at airports.
As our customers’ sites are based around the UK you must be willing to travel to our sites.
Duties Include:
- Manage allocated resources to achieve project / work package objectives as set by the Head of Section.
- Advise and assist with the evaluation of tenders.
- Prepare and maintain Project Plans and Safety Cases for less complex projects.
- Manage the day-to-day activities for the installation, commissioning, and optimisation of new systems.
- Produce and review procedures to ensure that systems are used and reconfigured in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
- Assist in the monitoring of operational systems through the collation of service ability data, ATC reports, status reports and in-service operating data.
- Conduct investigations into design faults on operational systems and implement solutions.
- Investigate design faults on operational systems, assist in planning and implementation of modifications to ensure faults are corrected.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Qualification to at least HND level in electronic engineering, computer science or a similar discipline.
- At least 2 years’ experience in engineering aspects of project/system management and an in-depth equipment knowledge of one or more aspects of relevant systems.
- Basic level of installation techniques in the engineering environment. Understanding of current BS and IEE standards relating to electrical/electronic equipment is required.
- Extensive experience with architecting, designing, deploying, and maintaining Cisco networks and Firewalls (predominately Palo Alto) is essential.
- Experience with Nokia Service Access Routers and OTN XTrans devices is desirable,
- Experience in deploying virtualisation platforms, network monitoring solutions and AAA solutions is also desirable.
