Site Engineering Manager

Job Introduction

Ensuring day to day Production equipment is operationally functional and safe for use. All equipment parts are stored and ready for use through the stock system. All Departmental staff are trained capable of routine Maintenance and to identify root cause issues of equipment failure and repair. Input into longer term site Efficiency plans and implementation. Oldham is a net £15m cost centre to Reach plc with an additional £4m cost of potential impact onto distribution and 3rd party revenues.

Role Responsibility

  • The Post holder is expected to have a level of technical knowledge and expertise normally but not exclusively, associated with Engineering.
  • Experience in dealing with Trade Unions
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing Principles with a demonstrated track record of improving business performance.
  • Significant line management and supervisory experience in an FMCG environment.
  • Communication, including written, face-to-face, presentation skills and the ability to cascade consistent messages for maximum impact.

The ideal candidate

  • Engineering technical Certification in Electrical/Mechanical Processes
  • Building Services and facilities knowledge
  • Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Experience of Project Management
  • Financial and budgeting awareness
  • Coaching and Development skills
  • Leadership skills, setting targets, taking meetings, communicating positively etc
  • Health and Safety Management skills and competences to level IOSH
  • Environmental Management knowledge and skills.
  • Customer management skills- Both in winning and meeting contract demands
  • Identifying cost reduction opportunities in labour , materials and waste
  • Devising efficient and achievable production scheduling
  • Working with the Director & General Manager to understand and manage RISK be this scheduling for additional revenue or cost saving or reducing maintenance hrs / technical cover
  • Stock management experience.
  • IT Systems experience for Purchasing and planning.
  • Manage all HR issues with support from central HR advisory team
