If that’s you, we’re looking for a Senior social media video journalist to join the biggest publisher of regional news websites in the UK.
This role will be leading the way in video production across all platforms from Youtube to Tiktok so experience working across all platforms is helpful.
You’ll also be comfortable heading out into the field, getting your own videos and reporting live across multiple platforms including Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and TikTok.
We are looking for successful applicants to start as soon as possible and there is opportunity to help shape the future of social media video production across ReachPLC. It’s a great opportunity to work on an exciting new project and learn a lot about journalism, social media and video.
This role is a six month fixed term contract and is a home based role.

Create and share engaging, creative video on our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and Tiktok
Producing long-form live videos in the field as and when required.
Shooting video on mobile and video camera when needed.
Come up with engaging ideas to drive video audience on our social media platforms
Find new ways to promote content on social through video and find new audiences
Edit video supplied by reporters and agency quickly and to a high quality
The ideal candidate
Understanding of video monetisation
Understanding of social media algorithms
Understanding of newsgathering process
Video editing software experience
Content writing experience
Passion for digital storytelling in local journalism
Qualifications and experience
Essential: Journalism qualification NCT, BJTC or equivalent experience, with at least one years experience in the field
Accredited senior or preliminary qualifications, including media law, are preferred.
Proven social media experience
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of quickly and precisely capturing and editing video for news and entertainment.
You should know the difference between TikTok and IGTV and how best to optimise the same content for each platform.
Strong local knowledge and storytelling ideas are highly desirable.
Candidates must be willing to do voiceover work and pieces to camera when called for as well as working with our reporters and editors.
You’ll need a sharp news sense and excellent social media skills, together with outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
You’ll need to be creative and energetic, with excellent social media savvy and digital publishing skills.
The role involves being comfortable working at pace and under deadline pressure. You’ll also need to be flexible covering shifts on a rota, including some weekends.
