Reach’s UX team are passionate creative thinkers, who are shaping the future of Reach’s internal and external product experiences. As a Senior UX Designer here, you will work to the team lead day-to-day, and report to the Director of UX & Design. You will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver products and services across our news brands and beyond. You will help develop consistently excellent experiences across all of Reach’s news products. You will be an experienced and well-rounded UX professional creating industry-leading experiences that connect user needs with business requirements.
Team & department overview
The UX & Design team includes a team lead, 2 User Researchers, 7 UI Designers, 3 Product Designers and 2 UX Designers. The spread of roles across the team ranges from Director to Junior levels. The team is an integral part of the Reach Group Product which consists of multiple Product Management and Engineering teams across Apps, Content Experience, Data etc. We also work more broadly across the organisation with many other departments and stakeholder groups and are pivotal to the expression of Reach and its sub-brands online.

You’ll be embedded in one or more of our internal product teams, where you’ll come up with ideas to tackle problems creatively, presenting solutions that centre around user needs
You’ll be the voice of our users, champion their needs, whilst remaining mindful of our internal stakeholder needs
Take ownership of the end-to-end user-experience for your projects
You’ll collaborate closely with the UX team to evolve your own work and peer-review other UX designer’s work
Create prototypes that bring ideas to life
Working closely with our research, data and testing teams, collaborating and supporting them as well as embracing their findings and incorporating them within your work
Reviewing and feeding back on UI designs, to ensure your UX work has been translated well
Run UX workshops as needed
Build knowledge across the team and beyond, educating the business about UX and its value
Documenting and sharing progress updates within the team and across the organisation
You’ll collaborate with UI Designers & Engineers to ensure the best quality UX outputs
The ideal candidate
5+ years of experience in user-centred design, UX principles and methodologies, excellent problem-solving skills, building user journeys, user flows, sitemaps, wireframes and interactive prototypes
Ability to create elegant, simple products and interactions
A passionate interest in what’s going on in the world of User Experience
Demonstrated experience in senior stakeholder management, and comfortable managing expectations
Ability to question requirements, briefs, assumptions and make recommendations
Clear communication and interpersonal skills, to showcase your concepts
Understanding and proficiency in UX softwares
Experience working within a collaborative environment, managing workload across one or more teams
Comfortable with working closely with the UI designers
A good understanding and appreciation for, and ability to collaborate with, User Research
Experience working with developers with an understanding of what is technically achievable, designing accordingly

Whilst some of our team have started to venture back to the office, others have chosen not to, so we also have optional social monthly meetups in London.
