Senior Performance Engineer

The Role

We currently have a unique and exciting opportunity for a Senior Performance Engineer to join support our ever evolving and growing digital platforms.

How you will make a difference

Working closely with the Digital & Change Scrum teams you will be responsible for the end to end performance and responsiveness of our applications, ensuring stability and reliability for our colleagues and customers.

  • Bench benchmark application performance across numerous dimensions and platforms on a variety of software and hardware stacks
  • End to end performance optimisation, supporting an ongoing shift left principle
  • Working collaboratively across our scrum teams to achieve performance & security objectives
  • Triage and resolution of performance bottlenecks, both current and projected based on business growth
  • Working with our Functional Testing team, as well as Platform and Database Performance Engineers to improve instrumentation and issue identification
  • Support the identification of any gaps in our test coverage and help to address issues
  • You will push the state of the art in realistic, performance engineering techniques

What we are looking for

  • Strong understanding of the Agile software development cycle
  • Solid understanding of Guidewire applications, batch/work queue, message queues, web services, workflows, data model
  • Ability to use industry standard monitoring tool e.g. Dynatrace
  • Expertise in scripting, designing, running, and analyzing test results
  • Strong communicator at all levels, with experience working closely with a wide range of people including engineering teams, development teams and non-technical audiences
  • Technical expertise in Java and SQL, along with multiple database platforms
  • Experience in working with agile tools ( e.g. Azure DevOps)
  • Experienced in iterative deployments and regular releases. Solid understanding of code quality and performance considerations as well as secure coding principles
