Job Purpose:
We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Voice Communications Support Team in Prestwick, Ayrshire. Where you will be keeping our main voice switch maintained and resolving issues. You will be our technical expert and team leader, utilising your expertise in E1/QSig, AC15, MFC-R2 and VOIP to provide quality support to our operational Air Traffic Controllers.
Duties include:
Performing day to day and strategic maintenance on our ATC communications systems at Prestwick Centre to agreed operational levels.
Supporting projects for system design changes, upgrades and enhancements of our ATC communications systems.
Mentoring other engineers in engineering best practice and leading a small team.
Producing engineering instructions to ensure that systems are operated and maintained in a safe and professional manner.
Taking part in rostered on call arrangements with a 1-hour response time to the Prestwick site.
Essential skills and experience:
- HNC (or an equivalent qualification) in an Engineering related discipline.
- Expertise in Voice Communication systems.
- Experience of working with electronics systems in an operational environment.
- Qualifications in open-source OS /networks would be an advantage (e.g. LINUX/CCNA).
- Knowledge of ground-ground and air-ground communication systems/networks would be an advantage.
- Ability to lead and mentor a small team.
- Proven ability to communicate in a clear and precise manner.
