Job Purpose/Overview

  • Lead the identification, analysis and prioritisation of complex business problems across NATS delivering high-quality requirements and actionable insights to support projects, programmes and other business change. As a key part of the Business and Requirements Analysis Team the job holder will work closely with stakeholders and project teams to define scope, analyse solutions, and ensure changes are clearly specified, aligned with business needs, and delivered effectively.

Other Duties Include

  • Elicit, refine, and document requirements, business models and organisation designs, using a range of workshop, interview, modelling, and text-based techniques, ensuring alignment with business needs and strategy.
  • Lead investigations into complex business or requirements problems applying effective stakeholder management, analysis, and communication skills to define problems, evaluate solution(s) and provide clear conclusions and recommendations including input to business cases.
  • Support programme and project managers by clarifying scope, outcomes and deliverables, ensuring alignment with NATS Strategy.
  • Task manage a small team of analysts on larger tasks, providing day to day direction, mentoring and coaching to support development and deliverables.
  • Provide independent peer review of business and requirements documentation, to ensure high quality content that brings clarity to complex situations.

Autonomy

The job holder is expected to operate with a high degree of independence, responsible for organising and managing their assigned work and the scope of tasks assigned to any team under them, resolving moderately complex issues, and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards. Escalation is required only for significant issues, engaging relevant senior stakeholders for task-specific decisions and reporting to their line manager for wider considerations.

Job Scope

The role requires engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders, each with specific organisational responsibilities. The job holder must be able to apply a variety of analysis techniques to identify and prioritise the stakeholder needs. They will develop coherent, high quality deliverables and effectively communicate them through media formats and channels appropriate to the audience.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A numerate background; holding an RQF Level 4 qualification in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics subject. Applicants without this qualification will be considered where they hold a relevant lower-level qualification or certification (e.g. BCS International Diploma or equivalent) and have a proven track record in business and requirements analysis.
  • Proven ability to investigate business problems, analyse data and provide actionable recommendations that support project and programme delivery.
  • Demonstrated competence in conducting requirements activities at all stages of project lifecycles, including elicitation, analysis and change management on medium-sized projects using agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Proven experience in developing high-quality documentation including business models, organisation designs and feasibility assessments, that have informed decision making.
  • Proficient in selecting, applying and adapting structured analysis and modelling techniques from industry bodies of knowledge to organisational problems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; able to quickly discern the critical facts in complex situations to provide effective guidance to stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills – verbal, listening, written and visual – with experience engaging stakeholders at all levels, facilitating workshops to produce documented outputs.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and develop credibility with stakeholders quickly, with a demonstrated capability to deliver measurable results.

  • Collaborative and driven working style with a focus on delivering outcomes; able to work with limited supervision and in disparate multi-functional teams.
