WalesOnline is looking for a News Editor to join one of the UK’s best, biggest and fastest-growing regional news websites.
You will have a key role in shaping WalesOnline’s content, reputation and success, working closely with reporters and other content editors to devise, publish and promote outstanding content every day. You will promote excellence across our website and social media platforms and have oversight of our overall performance against key overall metrics. You will be an experienced journalist with a detailed understanding of how and where different audiences can be found, and how this translates to content decisions. This is a hugely exciting and senior job which will give you the chance to be a leader in the newsroom, be innovative in storytelling and social media posts and encourage the same behaviour and skills in others.

You will get to work on breaking news of major significance to our audiences and work on innovative and original off-diary reads. We are looking for journalists who are curious to find out what’s going on around them, to answer the questions our readers want answered, who find time to listen to conversations and ask what they can add, and who believe journalism does its best when it is read by as many people as possible. You’ll want to deliver stories which make people come back to our site time and again. We’re looking for fresh ideas and new perspectives from people from a wide range of backgrounds, and we want you to tell us the stories you believe are important from our many communities so we can continue to diversify our content.

Please note we will be reviewing applications for this role as applications are submitted. Due to this the role may close without notice, so please don’t delay in your application.
