The Role

The Marketing Communications Manager is required to increase the profile and reputation of the firm in its core markets and heighten brand awareness.  They will be responsible for planning and managing the firm’s external and internal communications activities and the team that implements them.

Role Purpose


Key Responsibilities

  • Guardian of the firm’s brand and visual identity, ensuring that it is applied consistently and communicates the firm’s personality and attributes across all relevant media
  • Designing and implementing the firm’s marketing and communications strategy to address the needs of the different segments of the business using the full range of relevant channels to include PR, print, advertising and sponsorship, web, social media and digital communications
  • Defining the key messages for the firm, markets, sectors and regions, ensuring they are communicated in the right places and in the right way
  • Managing the firm’s PR and digital agency relationships to ensure appropriate communication of key messages in the regional, national and trade media
  • Ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the firm’s website, including compliance with relevant best practice
  • Development and implementation of a publications strategy to showcase the firm’s capabilities in an effective and impactful way – to include production of the firm’s Annual Review and core collateral – ensuring that content is of the highest quality and is re-used effectively across all relevant media, in compliance with relevant best practice and regulations
  • Working with the Business Development Managers to develop integrated marketing campaigns in support of the firm regional initiatives
  • Managing the development and use of the firm’s CRM system for the purposes of digital marketing, reporting on ROI and ensuring the firm is adopting best practice
  • Coaching team members, partners and lawyers across the firm on the appropriate use of marketing and social media channels
  • Ensuring an effective and  best practice approach is in place for the planning and running of events
  • Ensuring that an effective internal communications programme is in place which enhances and supports the firm’s external communications activities
  • Supporting the Business Development and Marketing Director in the development and management of the central marketing budget
  • Managing and developing the marketing team to ensure a consistently high quality output

Skills / Experience Require

  • Understands and complies with Information Security responsibilities commensurate with this role including Data Protection and the duty of confidentiality
  • Experience of working with and influencing senior stakeholders within a professional services environment
  • Track record of changing behaviours to ensure that clients are placed at the centre of partner thinking
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills to relay firm-wide messages in a clear and memorable way
  • Creative skills to communicate messages in a way that conveys benefits to clients
  • Strong digital marketing and social media skills
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to manage high workloads and prioritise multiple activities
  • Experience of managing teams and ability to get the best out of people
  • Experience of managing external agencies to ensure return on investment
  • Energetic and enthusiastic about making things happen
